- Review What You Learned This Week
Most students jump straight into training and trying to brace before they have gone over the basics.
They want to make progress, but if they skip catching, haltering, moving, brushing, supervised tying, and trust-building, the first week can become stressful for both the student and the lamb.
That’s why I created First Week Success With Your New Lamb, a 7-day beginner course that helps students and families build a calmer, safer first-week routine before moving into more advanced lamb training or show prep.
In this course, students learn how to help their lamb settle in, observe basic behavior, check feed and water routines, recognize health or stress red flags, catch safely using the Crab Walk method, halter with more confidence, move their lamb short distances, brush calmly, and practice supervised tying when the lamb is ready.
This course is not about rushing progress or forcing cooperation. It is about helping the student and lamb build safety, trust, and confidence one calm skill at a time.
By the end of the 7 days, families will have a clearer first-week routine, safer handling habits, and a better plan for what to practice next.
Who This Course Is For
This course is for youth exhibitors, first-time lamb families, parents, FFA students, 4-H members, Grange students, teachers, and advisors who want a safer and calmer start with a new lamb.
It is a good fit for beginners who need step-by-step support before moving into showmanship, bracing, leg setting, fitting, or advanced lamb training.
Course Promise
By the end of this course, students will know how to help their lamb settle in, observe basic behavior and health red flags, catch their lamb safely, introduce the halter, move short distances, handle calmly, practice supervised tying, and build a next-step training routine.
